Frequently Asked Questions

Is Samaj Vivah completely free?

+

Yes. Creating a biodata, browsing profiles, and messaging are all free, with no subscription plans. There is no limit on how many people you can contact.

Which communities can join?

+

All Hindu communities — Brahmin, Rajput, Vaishya, Kayastha, OBC, SC, ST and more. If your community is not listed during registration, you can still register and select "Other".

How do I create a biodata?

+

Register with your phone number and email, verify both, then fill in the step-by-step biodata form (personal details, family, education, photos). It usually takes 5-10 minutes.

Is my phone number visible to everyone?

+

No. Your phone number is hidden by default and only shared once you personally accept a specific contact request from another member.

Can I control who sees my photos?

+

Yes. You can set each biodata section — including photos — to visible to everyone, visible only on request, or fully hidden.

Does Samaj Vivah verify members?

+

Phone and email are verified via OTP/link before anyone can use the platform. Samaj Vivah does not do background or employment verification — please do your own due diligence before finalizing any match.

Is there a mobile app?

+

Yes, Samaj Vivah has an Android app in addition to the website. Both stay in sync — messages and biodata updates show up on either.

What is Kundli/Guna Milan matching?

+

It is a traditional horoscope-compatibility check across 8 factors (max 36 points). Samaj Vivah automatically computes your rashi, nakshatra and gan from your date, time and place of birth during biodata creation.

Can my parents manage my biodata instead of me?

+

Yes — during biodata creation you can set "Managed by" to yourself or a guardian/parent, and the biodata will note this for anyone viewing it.

How is Samaj Vivah different from paid matrimony sites?

+

Paid sites often charge ₹3,000-15,000/year for messaging limits, visibility boosts, etc. Samaj Vivah keeps all of this free and organizes members by community by default.

Can I delete my biodata later?

+

Yes, you can deactivate or permanently delete your account and biodata at any time from Settings.

Is Samaj Vivah a registered marriage bureau?

+

No. Samaj Vivah is a technology intermediary (under IT Act 2000, Section 79), not a licensed marriage bureau — it is a free community service initiative connecting families.
